ABC Family has set the summer premiere date for Pretty Little Liars season three: June 5th! The show moves back to Tuesdays.
No new footage has been shot since they wrapped tonight's winter finale that reveals the identity of 'A' but the writer's room has been busy breaking storylines and being mum about what's to come. The opening episode already has a name: "It Happened That Night."
Beware of spoilers from this part onwards!
Showrunner Marlene King says they have no regrets about choosing to reveal the identity of the stalker and that making the decision to take the leap took the edge off and everyone was just excited to go forward with the story. "We have so much more to talk about and deal with in Season 3. Because we've already broken most of the season, we know what Season 3 is, but I feel like we're revealing 'A' at the exact right time."
"We know our world, and we know our girls. But revealing who 'A' is has sort of given us a chance to sort of hit the reset button. The first episode of Season 3 feels a lot like the pilot, and it's really fun to sort of reinvent this world and reinvent these mysteries and sort of give ourselves a shot of adrenaline for Season 3." The said "huge new mystery uncovered in the finale" will carry us into season three and won't be about 'A'.
But don't count on 'A' magically disappearing from the girls' lives with a puff of smoke! The writers have known who the person is from day one and Marlene King says they're here to stay: "We wanted to make sure that it's not just a device in the show. 'A' is a real character. It's not random in any way. It's been very thoughtful, and 'A' is a character on the show that I think people know enough to care about being 'A' actually."
"I hope the character will really pop. We'll understand there are many sides to this character, and it becomes more of a three-dimensional character. Not just a black hoodie and a pair of black gloves."

High definition (1280x720 pixels) screen captures of Holly Marie Combs as Ella Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars episode 224, "If These Dolls Could Talk" have been added to our gallery.
There's been rumors going about among fans that someone is going to die in the season finale next week and that Ella is a likely candidate. Showrunner Marlene King took to twitter to assure fans that Holly Marie Combs will definitely be appearing in season 3! Of course that isn't a 100% guarantee that Ella will come out unharmed on Monday, but it certainly is a big relief, no?
FAN: "I'm confused, some people are saying that it's confirmed that @H_Combs [Holly Marie Combs] is returning for Season 3 and others aren't."
MARLENE: "@h_combs will def be in season 3."
